Apolytikion & Kontakion Hymns
(Tone of the Week: Plagal of the Fourth Tone)
Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Plagal of the Fourth Tone
You descended from on high, O compassionate One,
and condescended to be buried for three days,
so that from the passions You might set us free.
Our life and resurrection, O Lord, glory be to You.
HYMN TO SAINT NICHOLAS
An example of the faith and life of humility
As a teacher of abstinence
You did inspire and lead your flock
And through the truthfulness of your deeds
Were exalted by poverty gaining wealth,
Father and Hierarch Saint Nicholas
Intercede with Christ our God
That our souls may be saved.
Seasonal Kontakion in the First Tone
Your birth sanctified a Virgin’s womb and properly blessed the hands of Symeon.
Having now come and saved us O Christ our God,
give peace to Your commonwealth in troubled times
and strengthen those in authority, whom You love, as only the loving One.
Resurrectional Kontakion in Plagal of the Fourth Tone
When You had risen from the grave,
You also raised those who had died and resurrected Adam;
and now Eve is celebrating in Your Resurrection,
and the ends of the world keep festival,
for Your rising from the dead, O Most-Merciful.
